MERIDEN – A series of virtual candidate forums hosted by Record-Journal continues Thursday on Facebook.

At 5 p.m., the candidates vying for zone 4 of city council, incumbents Bob Williams and Kenneth Morgan, will answer questions on the problems of the city and the zone.

At 6 p.m., outgoing mayor Kevin Scarpati, his Republican challenger Elain Cariati and Independent Party challenger Ernestine Holloway will answer a series of questions regarding city-wide issues.

At 7 p.m., a forum featuring the candidates for two extraordinary city council seats is scheduled. Outgoing Democrats Bruce A. Fontanella and Chad Cardillo will be joined by their Republican opponents and backed by We The People, Dan Zaborowski and Ray Ouellet, as well as Independent Party candidates Holloway and Pedro Valentin.

Visit the Record-Journal Facebook page to view the forums in real time. Members of the public who connect live can submit questions for possible inclusion during the forums. Questions will be reviewed by Record-Journal staff before being asked to applicants. These questions should be problem-oriented. Questions that include personal attacks on a particular candidate will not be accepted.

All forums will be recorded and available for consultation on demand on the Record-Journal Facebook page. The first forum, for city council area 3, was held on Wednesday can be viewed now.
