The New York City Department of Education will be hosting a series of back-to-school forums in the boroughs over the next two weeks before the first day of class for public school students on September 13.

Each forum will last an hour and a half and begin with Porter’s comments followed by a question-and-answer session.
Families in public schools can register for the virtual forum on the DOE website. When registering, invitees should specify whether they would like to ask a question or share comments during the forum and indicate if their question relates to a certain category such as health and safety, academics, special education, stimulus fund or mental health.
After each session, DOE staff will post a recording of the event on the department’s website and on Parent University– an online platform where parents can access dozens of free lessons, so families unable to join the virtual event can watch it at their convenience.
