Four-star prospect Tyty Washington, a coveted Compass Prep playmaker in Phoenix, has set May 15 as his decision date.
Washington revealed the news on social media Tuesday morning by first announcing May 12 as the big day before correcting itself later with a tweet that said May 15 was the date to circle.
Kansas, which currently still has a scholarship to distribute, is one of them. And the Bill Self Jayhawks are joined by Arizona, Baylor, Kentucky, LSU and Oregon in the bottom six of the talented guard.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound playmaker has seen his stock skyrocket over the past two months after a strong spring and his disengagement from Creighton.
KU was one of the first programs to enter Washington after announcing plans to disengage, and, according to JayhawkSlant’s Shay Wildeboor, the Jayhawks are one of three programs supposed to be carrying out a Zoom call with Washington and his family in the next 24 hours.
Arizona and Kentucky are the other two.
While some believe these are Washington’s three finalists, it should be noted that he has met virtually and had contact with his last six schools on several occasions over the past few weeks.
Ranked No. 32 overall by Rivals.com – and as the nation’s sixth best playmaker in the 2021 class – Washington is one of six undecided players remaining in the 2021 class top 40.
That includes Nolan Hickman, a 6-2, 170-pound point guard from Wasatch Academy who recently pulled out of Kentucky.
The four-star Hickman is ranked No.39 overall by Rivals.com and he garnered a lot of interest from KU before initially committing to Kentucky last August.
