Longmont Forums to Feature City Council and Mayoral Candidates – Longmont Times-Call

The Boulder County League of Voters and Longmont Public Media are giving Longmont voters the opportunity to compare and contrast this year’s candidates for mayor and the two city council seats up for election this year at scheduled forums Sunday afternoon and Monday. night.

The candidates for General Council seats are Diane Crist, Jeremy Dejuan Johnson, Sean P. McCoy, Aren Rodriguez, TallisSalamatian and Shiquita Yarbrough. The forum featuring them will take place Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Stewart auditorium of the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road.

The forum featuring mayoral candidates Gregory Harris, Joan Peck and Tim Waters will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday also in the Stewart Auditorium of the Longmont Museum.

Both forums are open to the public and will be broadcast live on Longmont Public Media’s Comcast channels 8, 14 and 16 as well as on the Longmont Public Media website, longmontpublicmedia.org/watch.

Questions and topics were gathered from the public, and the League of Women Voters said in a press release that they would select questions and topics from those suggestions for the forums and scheduled one-on-one interviews with each of the candidates.

Mandy Nuku, of the League of Women Voters, said in an email that masks will be required for people participating in either forum in person. She said Spanish translation / headsets will be available in person and a Spanish recording / live stream of the event will also be available.

Nuku said forum tapes will be released the day after each event.

She said the format will be one-minute opening remarks, around 15-20 questions to all applicants with 60 seconds to respond and one-minute closing remarks.
