MSBA to Host Maryland Governors Forums in June

The Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) is hosting nonpartisan Maryland Governors’ Forums in June, providing voters and colleagues in the legal profession an opportunity to hear candidates’ positions on the most pressing issues facing the state. State and legal vocation.

The MSBA has invited all Republican and Democratic gubernatorial candidates to participate in these forums and does not endorse or rank political candidates.

The Democrat Forum will take place June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the 1,200-seat Roland E. Powell Ocean City Convention Center Theater (4001 Coastal Hwy.) as part of the MSBA Legal Summit, hosted by Baltimore Banner reporter Pamela Wood and Dick Uliano, a reporter for the Washington radio station WTOP. The Republican Forum will follow on June 27 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

The candidates present at the Democratic forum are Rushern Baker III, Jon Baron, Doug Gansler, John King, Wes Moore, Tom Perez and Jerome Segal.

On May 31 at 7 p.m., the MSBA will host a virtual-only Republican chat ( with candidate Kelly Shulz. The MSBA sought to host a Republican forum at the Legal Summit, but lack of or late responses from candidates resulted in the decision to hold a recorded forum to broadcast at the May 31 conference. Several candidates subsequently withdrew without notice to the MSBA. . The MSBA will seek to host an in-person forum for all Republican candidates in late June.
