Three candidate forums planned at the Vigo County Public Library | Local News

The League of Women Voters of Vigo County, along with co-sponsors Vigo County Library, Terre Haute Tribune-Star, the Greater Terre Haute Branch of the NAACP, and Vote Vigo, are hosting three candidate forums open to the public in the weeks to come.

All forums will take place at the Vigo County Public Library.

On Tuesday, a candidates’ forum for candidates of the Vigo County School Board is scheduled.

The Q&A portion of the event will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m., followed by a meet and greet from 8:00-8:30 p.m.

The public will be able to ask questions by writing them on the cards that will be provided. All questions should be addressed to all candidates and no candidate should be isolated.

A league member will then hand the question to the moderator to read.

Any offensive questions or remarks will not be accepted.

“We ask that no clothing or political buttons be worn during the forums. This is to maintain a neutral and non-slanted atmosphere. A board will be provided to all candidates for their campaign information to be posted and made available to the public,” said Carolyn Callecod, president of the League of Women Voters of Vigo County.

On September 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the sponsors will host a forum for County Commissioners/County Council candidates.

The next Candidates Forum, on October 4, is for State Representative candidates. It will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

All candidate formats will be the same.
