Vacaville People’s Forum organizes candidate forums – The Vacaville Reporter
Knowing who to vote for in local elections can be difficult, especially with so many options.
Again, Vacaville People’s Forum seeks to make things easier for voters by allowing them to hear from the candidates themselves. A series of virtual forums are scheduled for late September and early October in the contested mayor, city council and school board races in Vacaville and Travis.
The schedule is as follows:
- City Council Forum: 6 p.m., September 28. Candidates include Joe Desmarais and Greg Ritchie for District 2; Sarah Chapman, Kristen Navarro and Christian Scott for District 4; and Raymond Beaty, Tapac Chastain, Jennifer House and Jeanette Wylie for District 6.
- Mayor’s Forum: 6 p.m. on September 29. Candidates include John Carli, Joe Greene and Jason Roberts.
- VUSD Forum Zone 1: 6 p.m. on October 4. Among the candidates are Nancy Dunn and Jacqui Nguyen.
- TUSD Forum Zone 2: 6 p.m. on October 6. The candidates are Matthew Bidou, Riita DeAnda, Maria Figueroa, Nikolaus Sutton and Wil Wade.
Although all of the above candidates have been invited to participate in the forums, not all will necessarily choose to participate.
“The format of the forum will be the same as the last two election cycles (General Election 2020 and Special Election 2021) where community members will come together to ask our candidates important social questions (that) impact our daily lives. and which may not be asked. during typical application or endorsement forums,” VPF wrote in a social media post. VPF does not endorse any candidate but only provides a platform in which the community can participate in the electoral process.
All forums will be streamed live on the VPF Facebook page at Facebook.com/vvpeoplesforum.
